There are plenty of homes, just unrealistic demands in order to place an animal in one.

A.R.N.T is totally unprofessional and unresponsive. If they care so much about helping animals, they need to take a management class on how to run a business. Rude and unprofessional.

Other shelters may be different, but this particular organization is difficult and not very friendly. If I had based my adoption on their process, I would still be waiting for a returned email or phone call. They want your donations, but that's it.

Mandatory microchipping would be a good start. But first they need to be more open to actually letting the animals be adopted. They are unreasonable and have an unrealistic attitude as to when they deem appropriate to have an animal companion.

Angel's Rescue is not easy to work with, nor do they respond in a timely manner. Apparently their strategy is to ignore people to the point that they give up. It's very unfortunate for the poor animals who deserve a second chance instead of being caged.

Socializing animals available for adoption is very beneficial for an animal that has been abandoned or surrendered. It's also important to make sure the animal is going to a safe, caring environment, but it should not be a cumbersome process.

Only if the rescue/shelter has a reasonable adoption policy. Angel's Rescue of North Texas does not. They are difficult to deal with and are rude.

I have a very TIME SENSITIVE situation & I need HELP!! Recently, my family & I had a house fire. It wasn't a total loss but, we had to move. The owner sold the house , which is to be moved This coming Monday with; a family of cats & kittens living underneath it. I need HELP getting these babies out & to a shelter A.S.A.P. estoy buscando a mi mascota se llama socrates, y se me perdio el 5 de mayo 2019 en grand praire dallas tx. no lo puedo encontrar, ya puse flayers, ya lo anuncie por facebook ya busque en los shelter de grand praire y dallas quiero saber como lo pongo en otros shelters de otros condados por ejemplo de wylie tx, exactamente por la calle ashlam dr. 75098 alguien me mando una fotografia de un perrito callejero y desconcertado pero... no se ve muy clara, pero creo que si podria ser, esta a 38 millas de mi domicilio es lejos para mi.

I found a pretty Dog without tag and no chip on Saturday Feb 6, like At 6 am in front of my house around Lightfoot Ln in Frisco TX. I Really can't keep her (I have already 3 dogs). I have not been able to find the owner She looks like a pitbull mix about 6 months old. She is super sweet. Any help?

I have a white Persian cat that does not seem to be happy any more. I have taken him to the vet and they cannot find anything wrong with him. He is a calm beautiful cat but he does not consistently use the litter box anymore and I think it's because I have another cat. He must eat Purina Pro Plan or Science Diet. I believe he would be happy in a home that does not have any other cats. His name is Fussy. solid white. I have tried several times to inquire about specific animals Angel's Rescue has listed as available. No one has ever replied to my emails and no one ever returns calls. I would prefer to adopt an animal in need, but have found my best resource is the local animal shelter (SPCA).

Just curious, I rescued an American bulldog back in October. He is fully up to date on shots. I spent 150.00 to clear up his ear infections. He does not cohabitate with cats well and that is my problem. He is a great dog except for that. He craves lots of attention and does well with other dogs and children. He is approximately 1-2 yrs old and 70 lbs at last vet visit. My email is [email protected] if you are interested. Put CHIP in the subject line. Thanks

3. Rescue Groups

An adoption or transfer to a rescue group frees up scarce cage and kennel space, reduces expenses for feeding, cleaning, killing, and improves a community's rate of lifesaving. In an environment of millions of dogs and cats killed in shelters annually, rare is the circumstance in which a rescue group should be denied an animal.

4. Foster Care

Volunteer foster care is crucial to No Kill. Without it, saving lives is compromised. It is a low cost, and often no cost, way of increasing a shelter's capacity, improving public relations, increasing a shelter's public image, rehabilitating sick and injured or behaviorally challenged animals, and saving lives.

5. Comprehensive Adoption Programs

Adoptions are vital to an agency's lifesaving mission. The quantity and quality of shelter adoptions is in shelter management's hands, making lifesaving a direct function of shelter policies and practice. In fact, studies show people get their animals from shelters only 20% of the time. If shelters better promoted their animals and had adoption programs responsive to the needs of the community, including public access hours for working people, offsite adoptions, adoption incentives, and effective marketing, they could increase the number of homes available and replace killing with adoptions. Contrary to conventional wisdom, shelters can adopt their way out of killing.

6. Pet Retention

While some of the reasons animals are surrendered to shelters are unavoidable, others can be prevented-but only if shelters are willing to work with people to help them solve their problems. Saving animals requires communities to develop innovative strategies for keeping people and their companion animals together. And the more a community sees its shelters as a place to turn for advice and assistance, the easier this job will be.

In order to meet its commitment to a lifesaving guarantee for all savable animals, shelters need to keep animals happy and healthy and keep animals moving through the system. And that means consistent marketing and public relations. Public relations and marketing are the foundation of all a shelter's activities and their success. To do all these things well, the shelter must be in the public eye.

9. Volunteers

Volunteers are a dedicated "army of compassion" and the backbone of a successful No Kill effort. There is never enough staff, never enough dollars to hire more staff, and always more needs than paid human resources. That is where volunteers come in and make the difference between success and failure and, for the animals, life and death.

10. Proactive Redemptions

One of the most overlooked areas for reducing killing in animal control shelters are lost animal reclaims. Sadly, besides having pet owners fill out a lost pet report, very little effort is made in this area of shelter operations. This is unfortunate because doing so-primarily shifting from passive to a more proactive approach-has proven to have a significant impact on lifesaving and allow shelters to return a large percentage of lost animals to their families.

11. A Compassionate Director

The final element of the No Kill equation is the most important of all, without which all other elements are thwarted-a hard working, compassionate animal control or shelter director not content to regurgitate tired cliches or hide behind the myth of "too many animals, not enough homes." Unfortunately, this one is also oftentimes the hardest one to demand and find.
