Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in North Carolina
(report broken link)
Rutherford County Humane Society has been working in Rutherford County since 1979 to enhance the lives of abandoned and mistreated animals. Our goal is to reduce the number of unwanted animals through our spay and neuter programs, volunteer foster homes, and successful adoptions. We are an independent organization that works in collaboration with other area animal advocacy groups. All of our efforts depend on our passionately compassion- ate volunteers and on financial support from the community. As always, we welcome your financial support which makes our work possible.
Unfortunately, because of limited funding, we do not have a centralized adoption center or office facility. Instead, all of our adoptable pets reside with dedicated foster parents in the local area.
