Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in North Carolina

Harvey's Heroes Dog Rescue is named after our founder's personal dog, Harvey. Harvey was rescued from a rural shelter in Tennessee in 2008 as a 30lb 3 month old puppy. He has been an amazing dog that has inspired many others to adopt a shelter dog..
Our rescue is a small group of passionate, dog loving individuals who share their homes and their hearts to the many abandoned, abused and neglected dogs of our community. HHDR typically rescues from kill shelters and often houses 3-10 dogs. By placing dogs in foster homes we are able to fully asses their personalities to set them up for the best future. Our $200 adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter, and deworming.
Once a dog enters our rescue they will always be a part of our family. We strive to remain in contact with our adopted dogs and appreciate a fluid line of communication with our adopters.
