Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Our Mission
Create a community recognized for responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of animals through offering basic pet wellness and spay/neuter services, public education and placement of companion animals.
Who We Are
Serving Hall County and many other counties across Georgia since 1913, the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA) provides vital services to animals and people alike. A private, non-profit organization that receives no public or government funding, we are supported solely by private donations, grants, bequests, investments and some fees.
What We Do
HSNEGA is a no-kill facility, meaning our placement rate is greater than 90%. We take in animals from owners and other rescue organizations as space allows. All healthy or treatable animals stay with us until they find their FURever home. We only euthanize when severe or untreatable illnesses or behavior issues arise AND only when we’ve exhausted all other options.
Our programs and services include:
Adoption of Companion Animals
Bessie B’s Pet Store
Spay/Neuter Center
Community Cat Program
Low-cost Wellness Clinic
Owner Surrender
Intakes Shelters/Rescue Organizations from other shelters throughout Georgia
