Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in Georgia
(report broken link)
Circle of Friends Animal Society was founded in February 2007 by a small group of experienced rescuers who wanted to do things a little differently. We wanted to help animals that other rescue groups couldnt or wouldnt take because they had a health condition or because they might take longer to adopt out because of their breed, age, etc. We did not want to walk away from a dog because he was heartworm positive, or from a cat because she had an eye infection. Nor did we want to rescue only puppies or kittens or only small purebred dogs, or take a litter of puppies or kittens but leave the mother behind at animal control. There were eight of us originally – hence the eight hearts in the logo. We started with a very small budget, doing adoptions on Sundays at Pet Supplies Plus in Athens. We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
