Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

Hi, I'm hoping that you can help us. There are 2 homeless kittens that were roaming the streets until we caught them today. There are many coyotes, owls, and bobcats where we live, and the kittens are not safe being outside. They look to be about 4 months old and are both black and white. We can't determine the gender. They are a scared but definitely not feral--we were able to pet them a bit. We alreadly have 6 cats and we can't keep any additional ones. Please help us find forever homes for these sweet kitties!
Hello! We have found a box of about 6 cats on the side of the road. 2 are somewhat socialized but the others are really skittish. They all seem to be female. We currently have them at our house but we can't keep them for multiple reasons. I just couldn't leave them on the streets. Can anyone help?
