I live in apartments with many feral cats one in particular I've watched and fed he's getting smaller it looks like he's been in a lot of fights and I noticed what looks like possibly a bb shot to his face it's swollen and he looks terrible can anyone try and catch him and get him help?

PLEASE ASK YOUR HELP TO LOCATE MY PUPPY HE IS 15 YEARS OLD, I HAVE TO BLEND HIS FOOD, HE HAS NO TEETH BECAUSE OF HIS AGE, ALSO HE NEEDS TO DRINK A LOT OF WATER.. I AM VERY DISTRESSED.. HIS PARTNER IS ALONE AND VERY SAD SINCE LUDOVICO IS LEFT, HE DOESN'T WANT TO EAT. LUDOVICO, ESCAVO MADE A HOLE IN THE DOOR FENCE AND ESCAPED FROM 29TH AVENUE AND MARLETTE, IN GLENDALE AZ, PLEASE HELP US....he is a beige-blonde chihuahua, he has no teeth MY PHONE NUMBER IS 602-632-1644

Found an orange tabby kitten that doesn't look more than about a month old. He/she looks healthy and of course needs vaccinations. He is a feisty ball of fur. If anyone would like any additional info or if interested, please e-mail me at [email protected] My cross streets are 32nd St. and Bell Rd.

HELP! We found a female puppy, Black-Lab mix. She is roughly is about 8-10 weeks old and was starving when we found her behind a shopping center looking for food and water as well cool place. She is super sweet but we cannot keep her, we have 3 dogs and they do not want her around. PLEASE HELP, ANYONE! 602-663-8761 (Mike)

Hi. I found a Chihuahua last night in the trailer park located at 5601 W Missouri Ave. It's a female, white with black spots and had no collar. She approached my car as I was driving and after asking some neighbors if they recognized her, I was told there are a lot of strays around this neighborhood. I could not just leave her as she was shivering and cold. Unfortunately I cannot keep her. She is sweet and still a little intimidated. I was able to walk her around in my apt complex without a lease and she followed me. I have named her Cali and if anyone responds to this post I have a few pictures. I will be trying to find a no kill shelter to drop her off to today. Thanks for reading

**UPDATE*****on Dougie One of the shelters has agreed to accept Doug into their foster program and even help with his dental issues. The problem is they have no current foster people available for med-large breed dogs. Would anyone be available or know of anyone I could contact to help us out? The shelter will be paying for food, bed, bowl etc. Dougie is currently being boarded and I am hoping to find him a new place as soon as possible Please let me know Thank you

In an environment of millions of dogs and cats killed in shelters annually, rare is the circumstance in which a rescue group should be denied an animal.

The quantity and quality of shelter adoptions is in shelter management's hands, making lifesaving a direct function of shelter policies and practice. In fact, studies show people get their animals from shelters only 20% of the time. If shelters better promoted their animals and had adoption programs responsive to the needs of the community, including public access hours for working people, offsite adoptions, adoption incentives, and effective marketing, they could increase the number of homes available and replace killing with adoptions. Contrary to conventional wisdom, shelters can adopt their way out of killing.

6. Pet Retention

While some of the reasons animals are surrendered to shelters are unavoidable, others can be prevented-but only if shelters are willing to work with people to help them solve their problems. 10. Proactive Redemptions

One of the most overlooked areas for reducing killing in animal control shelters are lost animal reclaims. Sadly, besides having pet owners fill out a lost pet report, very little effort is made in this area of shelter operations. This is unfortunate because doing so-primarily shifting from passive to a more proactive approach-has proven to have a significant impact on lifesaving and allow shelters to return a large percentage of lost animals to their families.

11. A Compassionate Director

The final element of the No Kill equation is the most important of all, without which all other elements are thwarted-a hard working, compassionate animal control or shelter director not content to regurgitate tired cliches or hide behind the myth of "too many animals, not enough homes." Unfortunately, this one is also oftentimes the hardest one to demand and find.
