About this Dog
**Hello, Future Family!**My name is Jayla, and I’m a sweet Maremma/Retriever mix of just under 3 years old. I weigh 71 pounds of love and joy, and I have just been taken into foster care. Here are some details about me:Breed: Maremma/Retriever crossAge: 3 yearsGender: Female Weight: 71 lbsHighlight(s): Good with other dogs, playful, affectionate, sillyI’m a playful girl who absolutely adores belly rubs and all the attention I can get from my humans. I have a gentle personality and a big heart, and I’m always ready to brighten your day with my affectionate nature. I have not had many walks yet, so I’m still learning leash skills, but I’m eager to get out and explore with you! Please be patient with me as I sometimes become nervous when in newer circumstances, but I am fairly quick to adjust and learn to trust! I would absolutely love a home with a backyard where I can run around and play to my heart’s content. I have a moderate energy level; I can be quite the sleepy, cuddly girl but also enjoy some fun outdoor activities! My caregivers have just found out that I am quite chill living with a cat and I’m also good with other dogs. I have lived with 3 school-aged children so I have proven myself with young kids, although I haven't recently lived with toddlers. My current family moved to a place where dogs aren’t allowed, which is why I’m looking for a new forever home.If you’re looking for a loyal and loving companion who will bring joy and cuddles into your life, I might just be the one for you. Let’s meet and see if we’re a perfect match!Love,Jayla Energy Level: Moderate - enjoys outdoor activitiesI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: yesKids: yesFears: Unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Leash skills: Yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please be prepared to help me learn where to go in my new home.Health notes: I have been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
