About this Dog
Marshmallow is 1-1/2yo, weighs 66lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccinations, and is microchipped. Marshmallow's guardian adds: "We found marshmallow running down a busy street. After sitting with him at for a few hours, he finally trusted us enough to follow us into a garage, where we contacted an organization who came and put him through rehabilitative training. Once he was ready for adoption, we, welcomed him into our home, which at the time had three dogs. All was well until we had to put our oldest dog down. A week later, I went out of town, my husband forgot to feed the dogs and without the alpha the two dogs got into a fight. We contacted the rescue we got Marshmallow from, per our contract, however, they did not have the ability to house him. Said we had to pay an outrageous amount to send him back to rehabilitation, or to euthanize him. They went as far as to schedule a euthanasia appointment for us that evening. He is an amazing dog and does not deserve euthanasia because of a fight that is largely, our fault." Marshmallow walks perfectly on leash, sit, drop it. Currently working on basic commands. He's alone 3 hours per day at home and is with me or kept in the crate when I'm gone. He dislikes/fears leaf blower and strangers in our bedroom. He sleeps in his crate at night; is great during car rides. Marshmallow's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him: A recent fight between Marshmallow and the other resident dog over food on the floor resulted in sutures to the resident dog. Marshmallow's guardian adds: "We have two small children and so food is all over the place in our house and we have to guarantee their safety above all." Marshmallow's guardian offers a brief a medical history: "Past hookworm, giardia, and lyme." Lunge/Bite/Attack Incident: On 6 August 2024, Marshmallow lunged/attacked and bit the other family dogs; the bite broke the skin; animal control was not involved; medical treatment was sought. Marshmallow's guardian explains: "All was well until we had to put our oldest dog down. A week later, I went out of town, my husband forgot to feed the dogs and without the alpha the two dogs got into a fight. While both gotten bites, Marshmallow injured the other dog requiring emergency care. The dogs were fighting over food. It began as a scuffle, however, was allowed to go on much longer than should have been, as the accompanying family member was not equipped to deal with it, did not know how to break it up, so it went on much longer than it should have. The other dog had seven or eight stitches." Marshmallow's guardian states the following regarding children: Since Marshmallow lives with children, ages 2 & 4, his guardian recommends his living with children, stating "He is curious but gentle". Marshmallow's guardian states the following regarding dogs: Although Marshmallow has lived with multiple dogs, his guardian doesn't recommend his living with dogs, stating "He is fine with dogs outside the house but based on our incident it would be best to make him a solo dog". Marshmallow's guardian states the following regarding cats: Since Marshmallow hasn't lived with nor otherwise been around, his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats, stating "Cats can be unpredictable instigators and I can't say that Marshmallow would've engage if provoked". Marshmallow's guardian describes him as: Very active Couch potato Quiet Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Always at your side House-Trained Crate-Trained Marshmallow's guardian describes him ideal future home: "Marshmallow would be best placed with an experienced dog owner, preferably someone who has owned bullies or stubborn dogs before. He should be with someone who is active, and doesn’t mind being followed around all the time. He loves to play ball in the backyard, so a fence would be ideal."
