About this Dog
Colt is an adorable 5 month-old Blue Heeler, and a mellow boy as far as puppies go. He can seem a little more reserved when he first greets you, but he really just wants some one-on-one cuddles, and just melts into your arms when held. Colt is pretty content to lay down and chew on a toy with an occasional light wrestling session thrown in. He is still working on adult skills like walking on leash and potty training since he is just a baby. He gets along with everyone including other animals but is still a puppy so he may need some minor guidance to mind his manners. He is a wonderful puppy with a great personality! The adoption fee for Colt is $395, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply. Like all Cattle Dogs, Border Collies, GSDs, and other herding breeds and mixes, Colt will need positive reinforcement training, consistency, boundaries, activity and socialization. Colt's ideal homes will bea households with good routine and prior Australian Cattle Dog (or similar herding breed) experience. Like any of our dogs, sweet Colt will make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, activity and mental stimulation that his breed requires. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills and manners.
