You Tube video link: https://youtu.be/c1azPWcfO0U FOR ADOPTION! Note: Only those with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply. (For more pics, visit nr2r.petfinder.com or www.RoadtoRescueLA.org) INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLY: PLEASE read profile thoroughly BEFORE applying: DOG APPLICATION LINK: http://www.roadtorescuela.org/dog-application Cheezit (female) Intake date: 8/1/2024 Shih Tzu Approx 6 years old 10.2 pounds Adoption fee: $125, which includes vetting, microchip Good with other dogs: yes Cats: unknown – we do not have cats to be able to test Vetting and other: altered (spayed/neutered), removal of malignant mammary tumor (has not metastasized and now that she’s spayed, it reduces the risk of recurrence), up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, heartworm negative, fecal negative, treated for UTI (was urinating frequently with very little produced) – we did have vet x-ray to make sure she didn’t have any stones (no stones); CBC bloodwork (all normal range), on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention, professional groom (she was heavily matted), microchipped Health issues: Cheezit’s mammary tumor was malignant – it has not metastasized and now that she’s spayed, it reduces the recurrence. Temperament: She is very quiet, observant of her surroundings – was distrustful at first with us, but she has made a complete turnaround – she has a typical Shih Tzu stubborn personality (responsive on her terms). Energy level: low Groom needs: High; requires regular professional grooming Biography: We were contacted by a volunteer from Caddo Parish Animal Services about a little Shih Tzu in horrible shape and snapping at staff. I, Ninna, went to meet her. Upon my arrival, the staff was hesitant with her… but I went in her kennel with a slip leash and picked her up and took her to a quiet room and got on the floor with her. I invited her to my lap and she jumped right on my lap. She never tried to snap or bite… and I felt she was just scared. I took her with me. At the rescue, she was a little growly in her kennel at first… but then she realized no one was going to hurt her. We were there to help her. We sent her to our groomer first to get rid of the matting. She needed to be groomed first because she had a very large mammary tumor that would need to be removed, along with being spayed, etc. With dogs like her, you just have to get it all done at once so that you can then work on getting to know their true personality. She is now released from quarantine and enjoying herself at the rescue. She is curious of the other dogs as if maybe she hasn’t been around other dogs much. She tends to find a little bed and just observe the surroundings. We have a couple of puppies at the rescue right now and she loves to run with them. Maybe she finds them a little less intimidating. She is very sweet and quiet. We’ve never even heard her bark. She would love a quiet home without chaos and a lot of activity; with someone who is nurturing and kind. We feel she’d thrive in that type of environment. If you think that’s you, we welcome your application. **IMPORTANT NOTES** *We do adopt out of state provided the adopter is willing and able to travel to us once approved. We do not ship or transport our animals and there is no exception to this rule. *Most of our adoptable dogs are small, and they are never to be left outside alone, ever! We only rehome our dogs to adopters that plan to have them as inside dogs and part of the family! We do allow adopters with doggie doors, provided there is SECURE fencing. There is no exception to this rule! *PREDATORS: IF THIS DOG IS UNDER 10 POUNDS, the dog is to be monitored and protected when outside at all times! PREDATOR-THREAT IS A REAL DANGER! For example, a hawk tried to pick up a Chihuahua owned by a friend visiting Ninna’s house… RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE VISITOR. Thankfully the visitor was watching the dog and the hawk was wrestled off of the Chihuahua but it did require an ER visit and she is was very lucky to survive. TAKE IT SERIOUSLY! *NO SMALL CHILDREN!! As with almost all the dogs at NR2R, young children or a very active household is not recommended. Many of our dogs come to us BECAUSE of small children, thus we do not rehome our dogs to homes with babies or young children. KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU HAVE VISITING GRANDCHILDREN AS WELL! Even if the children are older, it would depend on the child AND the parent or parents. *HOUSETRAINING: We do NOT guarantee that any of our adoptable dogs are housetrained. While most should be easily trained, keep in mind that they live in a rescue where they have access to the outdoors all day and are inside at night. Even if they were surrendered to us as housetrained, it doesn’t mean they will automatically be housetrained in your home. Housetraining them should be easy in the right home with time, patience, and consistency. *KENNELING: We always recommend kenneling when you cannot supervise your dog. This helps with housetraining and any destructive tendencies until you get to know your knew addition. *We do not guarantee the age, health or temperament of any of the dogs we rehome. Many of the dogs we take in come from animal control and rarely do we have histories and even when we do, many times the histories are inaccurate. *Only adopters with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply. If you bring this pet into your heart and home, you will receive in return many years of love, companionship, and loyalty. That’s our guarantee. Other notes: This pet is available for adoption through Ninna’s Road to Rescue, Benton, La. We are 501c3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to rescue primarily small-breed dogs and to re-home them into RESPONSIBLE and CARING forever homes. DOG APPLICATION LINK: http://www.roadtorescuela.org/dog-application Time may be of the essence if you are looking to adopt a specific animal. Adopt Cheezit and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Cheezit's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is Cheezit's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Cheezit, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Cheezit's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Cheezit was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Cheezit’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
"The fun and friendly internet currency."
Dogecoin sets itself apart from other digital currencies with an amazing, vibrant community made up of friendly folks just like you. Dogecoin is a decentralized, peer-to-peer digital currency that enables you to easily send money online.
Learn more about it on youtube or at dogecoin.com.
We want the Cheezit’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Cheezit’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
