About this Dog
The Smith-Kinley transport came to us from Niagara Falls! Joyful Rescues feels strongly that, because of the drastic dog overpopulation problem that resulted due to human behavior during the pandemic, that we must do the responsible thing and focus our efforts in our own western NY region. The population problem has also created an environment ripe for increased animal hoarding when good hearted humans take on more than they have the resources to care for them which is the case for the 9 dogs and 3 cats that arrived here in pretty rough shape. A few of the dogs have no teeth and the others will need a dental, which we will do for them, and with this much neglect they will likely need a second dental in the near future so we want to be sure, if you choose to open your home to one of them, that you will be prepared for this cost. Everyone's nails were overgrown, and the longer haired ones were terribly matted and even had some twigs embedded in the mats. Any donations toward their care would surely be appreciated. Some of them are a bit shy at first, but they've been through a lot and we feel given a bit of time they will be the loves of your life! Rufus was born about July 15, 2014 and weighs about 12 lbs. Rufus is terribly sweet and is loving the human attention. He is extremely good with the other dogs and the cats and did very well on the two-hour car ride here. We don't know about house training and until we can update with that information, we want to let you know there will likely be some work in that area and potty floor pads are always a good idea for these tiny dogs. Rufus will not be needing a dental as he has no teeth thus his tongue hangs out sometimes. His last dental was in 2021 where an oral nasal fistula was repaired and the remainder of his teeth came out. Afterwards there were a couple of small fistulas, but notes seem to indicate they healed by themselves. He can still eat hard food but prefers soft. Rufus's eyes seem to have some age-related cloudiness and his hearing seems not to be perfect. It is Joyful Rescues humble/uneducated opinion that Rufus has had plenty of vaccines for his lifetime and should not receive any further vaccines. Please do some research and decide for yourself if you are interested in this cutie. He is an absolute lap loving snuggle bug - it only takes a few minutes for your heart to melt when meeting him! Here's a little update from a volunteer that has gotten to know Rufus: Sweet Senior Rufus loves to enjoy a leisurely stroll! And when another dog should appear in front of him, those cute little legs start moving as fast as possible to catch up. . . .in case it's an old friend! Or a new friend! He just loves everyone! And though his hearing may not be as sharp as it once was, once you have his attention, you have ALL his attention! He just wants to be loved! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_350.00_. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY. Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. Adopt Rufus and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Rufus's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is Rufus's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Rufus, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Rufus's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Rufus was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Rufus’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

We want the Rufus’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Rufus’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
