About this Dog
The Smith-Kenley transport came to us from Niagara Falls! Joyful Rescues feels strongly that, because of the drastic dog overpopulation problem that resulted due to human behavior during the pandemic, that we must do the responsible thing and focus our efforts in our own western NY region. The population problem has also created an environment ripe for increased animal hoarding when good hearted humans take on more than they have the resources to care for them which is the case for the 9 dogs and 3 cats that arrived here in pretty rough shape. A few of the dogs have no teeth and the others will need a dental, which we will do for them, and with this much neglect they will likely need a second dental in the near future so we want to be sure, if you choose to open your home to one of them, that you will be prepared for this cost. Everyone's nails were overgrown, and the longer haired ones were terribly matted and even had some twigs embedded in the mats. Any donations toward their care would surely be appreciated. Some of them are a bit shy at first, but they've been through a lot and we feel given a bit of time they will be the loves of your life! Mack Tavish was born about March 20, 2012 and weighs about ____ lbs. Mack Tavish is terribly sweet and is loving the human attention. He is extremely good with the other dogs and the cats and did very well on the two-hour car ride here. We strongly feel, in our school of hard knocks opinion/no veterinary training, that he has a significant vision loss which has made him a bit unsure of his new surroundings and all these changes. It is also possible there is some hearing loss. His site seems to be very limited, perhaps just shadows at this time. So no little kids as that could be very frightening with such fast movements. Once he is comfortable and happy with you he is a love bug. Mack has no teeth and in 2022 an oral nasal fistula was repaired and on his right hind leg there is a grape sized mass that was unchanged and doesn't bother him. It is Joyful Rescues humble/uneducated opinion that this elderly dog has had more than enough vaccines for a lifetime and doesn't need more. We don't know about house training and until we can update with that information, we want to let you know there will likely be some work in that area and potty floor pads are always a good idea for these tiny dogs. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_200.00_. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY. Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations.
