About this Dog
Date into Rescue: 06/25/24 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release/breeder retiring Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Casey is up to date on vaccines for his age. Casey is part of a group of dogs that are currently recovering from extremely poor living conditions. The conditions that we are clearing include sarcoptic mange, skin infections from dirty conditions and lack of grooming, intestinal parasites, and respiratory infections. Every dog has at least one of these conditions; some have multiple. Full records will go with every dog. Casey is estimated to be a dachsund / chihuahua mix. He is not hypoallergenic and will shed. Weight: 4 lbs and growing - we expect Casey will be between 14-18 lbs when full grown Height: 6 in and growing - we expect Casey will be 12 in when full grown Spayed/Neutered: No, Casey is too young to be neutered. He will be adopted on a spay/neuter addendum that requires you to neuter him at your cost and provide proof within 9 months. Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No, but he would love one! What kind of home would be best for me? Casey will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog. Casey is just a baby and needs to learn everything from walking on a leash to his basic commands. He is looking for an active home that is ready to tire him out both mentally and physically. What matters most to Casey is finding an adopter that will be happy and excited to have him, and ready and willing to take on loving and training their new puppy! Whether he is adopted into a large family or by a single adopter Casey will become your life-long companion and provide so much joy and happiness to your life that you'll wonder how you ever lived without this joyous little pup. Casey's a puppy, he plays with all other dogs here as well as chases the cats. If you have a cat be certain your cat is ready for an energetic puppy. When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well. If you expect Casey to get along with your feline buddy, it’s important to start socializing them as soon as you can! Puppies are always in need of a canine friend, they love to run and play with one another. Puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically, so a fenced in yard will be required. Puppies are generally very well rounded dogs, they do not meet strangers and would do well with a nice big family or a single owner! What matters most to a puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it’s important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can! What is my personality like? Casey is an active and agile little puppy. He seems to be powered by Energizer batteries as he is constantly zooming around the yard playing with other dogs, toys, or anything he can get his mouth on. You don't need to press play with Casey as his switch is stuck in the play position. Well at least until he finally tuckers out and then it's NAP TIME! Casey is a puppy, and he likes to play, chew on anything he can get hold of, eat and pee and poo. It's what puppies do. PUPPY POLICY: Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog. Our ideal puppy adopters are: -experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets -scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home -stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) How do I act when I first meet new people? Casey is a puppy, he loves everybody! Come play with me and give me treats! Other tips and tidbits: Casey is estimated at under 6 months old. We celebrate his birthday 04/19/2024. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
