_________ B I O ______________ Name: Gareth Size: Medium range: 26-60 lbs Adoption Donation: $250 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip, No Cats Gareth is a happy and smart boy Foster Home Feedback ** NO CATS 9/7/24 Foster Feedback: Gareth has been with us for a couple of months now, and he has seamlessly become a cherished member of our family. He quickly found his comfort zone and formed a delightful bond with our female shepherd/husky mix. Gareth is incredibly perceptive, taking cues from her when she’s had enough playtime. His gentle and protective nature shines through with our special needs child, always staying close and offering comfort during challenging moments. Gareth’s strengths are as boundless as his puppy energy. He thrives on playtime, with tug-of-war and fetch being his absolute favorites. Walks are a highlight of his day. Gareth is also a snuggle enthusiast, loving nothing more than a welcome home hug or curling up in your lap. His love for water is evident as he joyfully plays in the sprinkler, and I’m certain he would revel in a swim at the lake. Gareth is potty trained and has never had an accident in our home. His crate training has also been successful, and he sleeps soundly in his crate at night. While he’s not a fan of being in his crate during the day, he settles down quickly when needed. Training opportunities for Gareth include refining his leash walking skills. His playful spirit can make him a bit excitable when he spots other dogs or rabbits, and his eagerness for walks often leads to pulling. However, once he’s had a chance to burn off some energy, he walks much more calmly. We’ve found success with a short hands-free leash and bringing treats along. Gareth’s love for food means he will find and devour any food left out, so vigilance is key. Gareth would thrive in a home with another dog to play with or as the sole canine companion, provided he gets plenty of walks and playtime to expend his energy. While he is crate trained, he would undoubtedly enjoy snuggling with someone at night and would likely do well out of his crate if that’s your preference. Gareth is ready to find his forever home and we would love to set up a meet and greet if he sounds like a good fit for your home. 7/3/24 Volunteer Feedback: I have had a couple shelter shifts with Gareth. Gareth is such a fun loving outwardly friendly dog. He could use a little manners on the leash but he is a cooped up shelter dog. Gareth is an absolute hoot when it comes time to play time, he has no problem entertaining himself. Gareth has been getting along well with the other shelter dogs.
