About this Cat
Balam was picked up at an extremely young age as a stray along with his mama and two other brothers in a rural area of Missouri. They were held in an animal control facility there until a good Samaritan pulled the family from there and asked Heartland to tag the family for rescue. They came into Heartland healthy, but shortly after intake, the kittens started to deteriorate. Mama didn't know how to react, the kittens started losing weight and many tests were run. She lost one kitten before the results came back. After finally getting a diagnosis, treatment was started immediately and the remaining two kittens responded positively. Balam is on a prescription GI food due to the toll all the medications took on his GI tract as a kitten, but that is all he needs to stay “regular”! Balam is a very quiet, low maintenance kitty. He will come for pets and an occasional lap nap but prefers sleeping on his cat tree. He has never been an only cat so it’s not known how he would do. He is very playful with his foster siblings. He will require a family with patience to allow him to warm up at his own pace, but will be rewarded when he comes to you and wants some loving and you hear the pitter patter of him running when he gets the zoomies. Balam ("Jaguar" in the Mayan language) is neutered, microchipped, tested negative for FIV/FeLV and is current on age appropriate vaccinations. HHS13374JT

Adopt Balam and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Balam's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is Balam's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Balam, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Balam's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Balam was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Balam’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

We want the Balam’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Balam’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
