About this Dog
Kayla is a very sweet and obedient lady full of love and tail wags. She can live with dogs or cats or people, and loves all three! She is house trained and crate trained. It's clear that she has had training and knows her basic commands and takes treats so very gently. She also responds readily to "come" and "eh! eh!" as a correction or to redirect her attention (not needed too often). She likes treats but doesn't beg or whine and when people are eating she stays at least 5 feet back and lies down; no amount of calling her will get her closer while people are eating. Kayla has never touched or shown interest in people things, such as shoes, slippers, pillows, or kids' toys. She is very calm in the house and a perfect work-from-home companion, sleeping on a dog bed most of the day and occasionally getting up to stretch, look out a window, or have some water or a snack (she can be a grazer when it comes to eating) before resuming her nap. You can tell she is very relaxed and comfortable when she starts snoring and sometimes her jowls even reverberate; it's adorable to watch. She has lived with two large cats and ignored them. She has also lived with kids 8+ years and was gentle and cuddled with them. She doesn't play much with toys or balls or sticks but does enjoy sniffing around a backyard or on a walk and then laying out in the sun. Kayla is fairly low energy. She enjoys running around the yard doing a few zoomies about once a day and needs a walk. She is good walking on leash, and only pulls if there is something very exciting to smell, but a gentle tug and "slow down" is all that's needed to rein her in. She does not appear to have a prey drive as she doesn't even take a step towards squirrels and when one came at her, she ran away. She can be a little slow to warm up to new people and requires patient and calm introductions, but once you are in her circle of trusted people she is relaxed and happy to cuddle.
