About this Dog
DOUG NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Doug and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (September 15th) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Falls Church (6100 - A Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)! Come meet Doug and other great adoptable dogs this Saturday (Sept. 14th) from 12-2 pm at the Pet Evolution in Fairfax (3903 Fair Ridge Dr, Fairfax, VA 22033)! Name: Doug Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and retriever mix Best Guess for Age: 9 months as of July 2024 SEX: Male Estimated Weight: 22 lbs as of 6/7/24; he likely is still growing! Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested Currently Living at: DC area foster home. Special Adoption Considerations: Because Doug is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. We would be cautious placing him in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant. Doug is Looking For: His forever home. This cutie may look like a big boy but he's really a big older puppy! He hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet and is eager to have his own humans for romps in parks and all the adventures they can dream up, and make lots of people and pup pals along the way. Exploring all the toys to see which he likes best sounds great too, And he's excited to go to dog school so he can show how super smart he is!Most of all, though, he wants to be a well-loved dog for all his days. In exchange he promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is he the one you see by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: Doug is a lively 22-pound bundle of love. He is shy at first with new people, but quickly warms up with a little time and plenty of treats. He bonds closely once his trust is won, relishing cuddles on the couch and lavishing kisses on his people. Doug adores the company of other dogs, big and small. He loves to play run and hide, or simply sit side-by-side, sniff, and lick ears. He also respects boundaries they set. He is fond of toys, especially plush toys and chew bones. He plays ball enthusiastically, tossing and catching the ball by himself when no one else is around. He likes his playtime outside, often indulging in wild zoomie loops around the yard. He enjoys long walks and sniffing along the way, although we are working on curbing his enthusiastic tugging when squirrels or deer pass by. Doug has caught on quickly to simple commands like “sit” and “touch.” He takes his favorite cheese and liver treats gently from our hands. He has made great progress with house training. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night and willingly enters it when we leave home. Our family has enjoyed fostering Doug, who has become a dear companion to us and a playful buddy for our two dogs (big shephusky and tiny bichon). Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. Adopt Doug and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Doug's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is Doug's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Doug, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Doug's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Doug was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Doug’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
"The fun and friendly internet currency."
Dogecoin sets itself apart from other digital currencies with an amazing, vibrant community made up of friendly folks just like you. Dogecoin is a decentralized, peer-to-peer digital currency that enables you to easily send money online.
Learn more about it on youtube or at dogecoin.com.
We want the Doug’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Doug’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
