About this Dog
Are you someone who likes the outdoors and is looking for a ride or die? Want an active Mal that doesn’t “require” hours of physical training or mental stimulation? Have I got the perfect pup for you! This is ACE! Ace is a fun loving, intelligent, affectionate 2 y/o Belgian Malinois looking for a foster to adopt or forever home! Ace weighs in at 65lbs, is neutered, heartworm/parasite negative, and up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm, flea and tick preventatives. Ace was pulled from a shelter due to overcrowding after his previous owners developed medical issues and couldn’t care for him anymore. Training: House trained, knows basic commands, walks well on a leash, and is learning to be ok in a kennel enclosure. He won’t damage the kennel or hurt himself, but he barks for a couple of minutes and then settles down to play with his toys or chews on his bone. He will go inside a crate on his own but does not like being “shut” inside. He’s not overly vocal, but likes to chatter but does not have separation anxiety. Ace is NOT a high drive, hyper, must train or die, ball is life kinda guy. Medium toy drive, high food drive, low prey drive (he totally ignores the deer staring him down on the other side of the fence). Speaking of fences, he hasn’t shown any interest in jail breaking from the yard! Socialization: After proper introduction, he plays very well with other dogs (tested with the resident Mals (3 males, 1 female)/2 small dogs), and has been socialized with new people. He is NOT aggressive and will defer to the other dogs regardless of size or gender! The resident supreme overlord, a 10lb female Maltese, puts him in his place with just a look. He does NOT resource guard and will give up whatever toy is in his mouth to you, another dog, or the ground. During meals, we can move his bowl around (even take it away) as he’s chowing down. He just looks at us and waits for us to put it back down. He especially loves wrestling with his male human buddy. He loves being outdoors! Running around, chasing toys, going for walks, sniffing flowers, but he also likes couch time and chewing on his toys in front of the tv. Ace is a diamond in the rough! He will need an experienced Mal owner who understands the bonding process and training required to bond with him. The more he trusts you, the more compliant he becomes, almost puppy like with his willingness to play and follow your lead. If you are interested and not an approved foster/adopter yet, please fill out the application at the link below on a computer – no cell phones, please. Application click here Questions?
