About this Bird
Hatch Date: 2012 Rio is an 11-year-old, Sun Conure, presumed male. He is stunning and a good boy all around. He doesn't seem to like men, and we believe he was abused/severely neglected by one. He was found in a state of neglect at the 2nd of the three homes we know of. His first two owners passed, and the people who took him in reached out to us for help. Rio speaks, but we can only make out one command clearly, which is "Walk away" when someone gets too near his cage. This breaks our hearts, but his speech is pretty clear, so we're hopeful he can pick up some more positive words/phrases, given the proper time and training. Rio is new to his foster family but doesn't seem to be an aggressive bird. He is, however, a scared bird, and will only come out of his cage for short periods, before he gets nervous and puts himself back in. He has a healthy pelleted diet and will take sunflower seeds gently from your hand. His foster family will be using them strictly for treats and incentives for positive behaviors. He loves his baths in his cage and being sprayed misted with a bottle. We moved him into a large flight cage, which is great for him and it's filled with toys, which he loves! He seems to call back and forth with other birds in his foster home but doesn't have a super strong interest i n physically getting closer to them. His foster family will continue to work with him, and post updates as they learn more about Rio. Rio is being fostered in Howell, NJ NJ and will only be adopted to a forever home within driving distance. We will not ship our birds. For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA. We do not have a central location. Rio is living in a private home; we only allow approved applicants to make visits. If interested in adopting Rio, please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org to read our adoption policies & procedures and to complete an adoption application.

Adopt Rio and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Rio's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is Rio's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Rio, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Rio's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Rio was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Rio’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

Learn more about it on youtube or at dogecoin.com.
We want the Rio’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Rio’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
