About this Dog
Montra is a delightful, charming, friendly and beautiful dog. Those gorgeous bi-eyes!!! He was saved by the bell day-of by Nosled from the City of Martinez. He makes friends everywhere he goes - so happy to see all his new pals whether at the vet, the kennel or even the shelter. He is an extremely social dog with both humans and dogs, though he does show an over-eagerness to play that needs some training. His foster mom works from home and he loves chilling nearby while she’s on the computer. He would love a house with another well-mannered dog; he is very interested in playing with other dogs but shows hesitation with assertive personalities and dogs that are too rude and 'in his face'. He doesn’t have a truly mean bone in his body once trust is established- he shares toys and food with his foster mom and checks in often when outside. He is a typically husky with prey drive so no cats or other small critters; he hasn’t been introduced to a small dog so that’s an unknown. He hasn't shown a desire to jump the fence or bolt yet but with huskies, that's always a possibility. His only attempts at digging have been to get a dead skunk that was under the neighbors shed and the whole neighborhood thanked him for bringing that lovely smell out into the open for all of us to enjoy. He is incredibly food motivated and eager to please. So far, he has mastered sit, shake, off, and not getting on the furniture without an invitation; he is working on down and stay. He is crate trained and sleeps in the crate at night and when left home alone. He is learning not to pull on leash and is improving daily. He rides extremely well in the car (but does want to help drive) and loves going on adventures. He’s an incredibly athletic dog; his foster mom could see him as an agility dog or a running friend. With some exposure, training, and practice, he’d also make a great hiking or snowshoeing partner! He seems to thrive with at least 60 minutes of walking and fetch daily to get out the wiggles; like most young huskies, he’ll keep going until you tell him it’s time to stop. Very cuddly, people oriented, social with other dogs, treat motivated, loves toys but doesn’t shred toys, needs consistent on-leash training, working on confidence while alone. Loves belly-rubs. It can’t be described enough how much Montra loves to snuggle. Under your skin is not close enough! He loves attention and love and makes sure his belly is ready and available. He's probably about 1-1/2 to 2 years and weighs only about 50 pounds but he's very fluffy and could probably use a few extra lbs. He handles baths just fine as it's an opportunity for more scratches! Probably no children under 12 unless they are well-versed in dog behavior. Like many, if not most, dogs in a new environment, Montra does take some time to truly trust. It's important to keep in mind that he was on the street and has displayed a tendency to resource guard if that trust has not been established as that likely helped keep him alive. Heck, his foster mom wouldn't like a stranger grabbing her stuff either! However, after just a few, short weeks, it's remarkable what a lovely, sweet, slightly mischievous dog this boy is with those he's developed a mutual trust and bond. In general, it seems to be directed mainly towards 'contraband' (ie, stolen items and/or trash) but he's happy to swap with a toy or a tasty treat so it's more than manageable, especially when combined with not leaving food on the counter and using trash cans with lids or behind a cabinet door. His foster mom is more than happy to provide resources on dog body language, resource guarding, and the 3-3-3 expectation for dogs in a new home and to answer any questions you might have. He really is an incredibly special boy for anyone willing to have the patience and he definitely deserves the opportunity to love and trust you! Overall, Montra is incredibly easy to love. All vetted and ready for action. If his foster mom was able to commit to another dog, he would be snatched up in an instant. Everyone really loves Montra and that love is definitely returned!"

Adopt Montra and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Montra's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is Montra's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Montra, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Montra's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Montra was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Montra’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Montra’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
