About this Dog
Handsome Emerson is 1.5yo, weighs 70lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccines, and is not microchipped. Emerson has participated in extensive training and knows 'sit', 'stay', 'wait', 'come', 'heel', 'speak', 'down', 'stand', and 'break'. Emerson's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him: "Due to moments of unpredictable intensity over the last year, we believe Emerson would do better in a home without young children. I have put in hundreds of hours of training with him and consulted professional trainers. The general consensus is that while we believe his select behaviors are “fixable” (we have seen results), he most likely will never be a dog that can be trusted 100% with young children. Although day-to-day Emerson does very well with kids, he shouldn't be in a home with young children due to very occasional unpredictable behavior. I am happy to share openly the issues that lead us to believe he's not safe to live with young children to who ever is interested." Emerson's guardian offers a brief medical history: "Lyme disease - no need to treat. Fine now." Emerson's guardian states the following regarding children: Emerson lives with a 2yo child, but his guardian doesn't recommend his living with young children, stating "He has done well! Though he's very excitable, so can often be too much for kids.". Emerson's guardian states the following regarding dogs: Emerson doesn't live with dogs, but his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "He loves visiting other dogs. Occasionally, he'll meet one he doesn't like. However, overall he likes the majority of them. He tries to play". Emerson's guardian states the following regarding cats: Emerson doesn't live with cats and has not otherwise been around cats, so his guardian doesn't know how he will react in their presence and doesn't recommend his living with cats. Emerson's guardian describes him as: Very active Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Protective Always at your side House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Emerson's guardian describes his ideal future home: "He has a lot of energy and is very smart, so a home that can give him plenty of exercise and activities to work his brain is a must. He would make a great sporting/activity dog. He loves to hike and swim. He is also a strong willed dog, so a home with consistency and strong boundaries is necessary."
