About this Dog
ROUGE is one of the “Fab Four” we saved from being euthanized at the Pound. The only reason that was going to happen to her was because they needed the space to bring in more unwanted or dumped dogs. She’s spayed, microchipped and vaccinated including rabies. She is a beautiful girl but definitely high energy and looking for an experienced Shepherd owner. ROUGE has both beauty and brains and is a very smart, loving girl who craves attention. Her favourite place to be is right beside you on the couch so she can get snuggles and belly rubs. She does need lots of exercise to help burn off that energy so she’s definitely looking for an active family who can give her the exercise she needs, take her on trail hikes and lots of adventures. She travels well in a vehicle and gets excited when she knows she’s going in it as it usually leads to a nice long walk for her. She loves to play fetch and when you throw the ball for her, she’ll chase after it and retrieve it back to you and drop it out your feet. A fenced-in yard is required for her as she loves to run around in one and chase out the birds, squirrels, chipmunks and well let’s just say any creature that dares to land in her yard. She does need a fenced-in yard as she does love to run around and play outside. She hasn’t met a cat but we’re advising no cats in the home due to her high prey drive. She has a dog savvy 6yr old child in her foster home and they get along great. The little boys favourite thing to do with her is lead her around the house on her leash. She takes it all in her stride and just follows behind him just like his little shadow. She’ll do great with children in her new home as long as they’re calm, loving and considerate to animals. ROUGE is crate trained and will sleep soundly in it at night. She’ll also go in it during the day and nap while left alone. She’s housetrained and will let you know when she needs to go outside for a bathroom break. She’s a very social girl and loves to chase and run around with the other female dog in the home so she would do well with a calm fur sibling. Saying that, she would do equally as well as an only dog too. The dog will need to be calm and not get too worked up with an energetic dog like Rouge around. We don’t feel she would be suitable for a home with a cat. ROUGE recently completed a 3-week board and train programme at Sunnidale Kennels in Angus. She did amazing there and the biggest improvement was her leash walking skills. She’s always been good on her leash mind but would just get worked up when she saw another dog, especially if they had a lot of energy like she does. She’ll now walk calmly by those other dogs and is rewarded with a couple of treats each time for being a good girl. Sunnidale is offering some free sessions with a trainer for Rouge and her new adopter once she’s been adopted. This is so they can fully understand the commands she knows and the best way for them to communicate with her. We have a full assessment report on her behaviour and training at the kennels to share with her adopter as well. ROUGE does have a bite history and it was on 2 occasions with her foster when she first went into her home. Her foster feels they could’ve been totally avoided but none the less they did happen. They were incidences that happened about 4-5 months ago and there’s been no other incidences since that time. This is something that will be discussed in full with her potential adopter during the phone interview stage of the adoption application. ROUGE is a very special girl who has been in care since she was just a pup of 5 months old. What she endured in those first few months of her life we’ll never know but we do know it wasn’t good. She will need a special adopter who will love her for who she is and will have love, patience and understanding for her while she makes the transition to settle into her new home. That home will be with active people but not too busy of a household. A home where she’s not left alone for long periods of time and one where she’s welcome to lay on the couch beside her new owners and get lots of cuddles and kisses, which she’ll give right back to you too. If you’re interested in meeting the loveable ROUGE then please put in an application to meet her.

Adopt ROUGE and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, ROUGE's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is ROUGE's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the ROUGE, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming ROUGE's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and ROUGE was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, ROUGE’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

We want the ROUGE’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, ROUGE’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
