About this Dog
"Meet Lou! Lou is a 4-year-old mixed breed in need of a loving home. He is a true sweetheart that enjoys getting pets, taking naps, snuggling, and playing. Lou loves his stuffed animals, kongs, and toys - but never chew up items that are not his. Lou weighs 65lbs, is housebroken, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. He does well on leash and loves a road trip! Lou does well with his foster family's cat and he gets along great with some dogs and not as well with others. Young children make Lou anxious so he needs a child-free home (12+) but he adores older children and adults." Lou's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him: "Lou does not do well with young children, and we have two." BITE INCIDENT: In June 2023, in Charlotte, NC, Lou bit one of his human siblings; the bite did break the skin, animal control was not involved, and medical treatment was not administered. Lou's guardian explains: "Lou was on the couch barking at a delivery person on our front porch. Our toddler got in Lou's face and he nipped at her and broke the skin on her face. She did not need stitches. This was a stand alone incident." Lou's guardian states the following regarding children: Lou lives with children, ages 0-2, but his guardian doesn't recommend his living with young children, stating "Lou is NOT an aggressive dog but he does get anxiety around young children. Lou has learned to avoid children when he can (walks away) but when he feels trapped he may nip/bite to protect himself." Lou's guardian states the following regarding dogs: Lou hasn't lived with dogs, but his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "It is a case-by-case situation with Lou and other dogs. Some dogs he gets along with great and others not as well." Lou's guardian states the following regarding cats: Lou is living with a cat, so his guardian recommends his living with cats, stating "Lou is currently living with my family's cat and they get along well. We are unsure how he would do with other cats." Lou's guardian describes him as: Couch potato Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Fearful House-Trained Likes men Likes women Lou's guardian describes his ideal future home: "Lou would thrive as an 'only child'. He has gotten along well with other dogs and cats but it can be situational and ideally he would be the only animal. A fenced-in yard would be ideal for Lou, as he likes to wander, sunbathe, and sniff outside. Lou gets anxiety around young children and needs a child-free home or one with older and considerate children." Rehoming Fee: None Location: Falls Church, VA
