About this Dog
Date into Rescue: 07/13/23 Reason for being in rescue: found as stray in North Carolina in 2023, we've had quite a health journey with Clyde but he's now ready to go Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Clyde is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Clyde had an orthopedic problem a few months ago. Surgery to correct it was not as successful as we hoped and had to be redone. He is up now and back with a slight limp. Full medical records will go to his new family and their new vet. Weight: 59 lbs and needs to be 52 or so. Clyde needs a diet! Height: 24 in est Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? A fence is a definite good idea for Clyde but for the right home, with a lot of love and time for Clyde, we can discuss alternatives. He has to have a good walking program. What kind of home would be best for me? Clyde is searching for a loving home where he can receive an abundance of kindness, understanding, and attention. He had a challenging start to life, and while we can only imagine the difficulties he faced, it's clear he hasn't had much exposure to a home environment. Clyde will need a patient family to help him adjust to indoor life. Though he's become accustomed to crates here at the rescue and usually keeps his crate clean overnight, establishing a consistent potty schedule will help him become fully house-trained. Clyde is good on a leash but will need to learn basic commands. He's a cautious and playful guy who's likely to grab anything that fits in his mouth, so a home committed to teaching him house manners would be ideal. Clyde would do well with other dogs with calm demeanors but would thrive in a home where he can be the sole focus of his new family's attention. What is my personality like? If only dogs could talk, the stories Clyde would tell.... Found with his friend Bonnie, Clyde arrived in rescue emaciated, filthy and full of medical challenges. Ear infections, eye infections, skin infections, and orthopedic challenges were part of his challenges. He also weighed a whopping 38 lbs, literally all skin and bones. It's amazing what a year of compassionate care can do. Time for healing body and mind. Time to learn that life can be really sweet when you are well cared for. Time to get ready for your own happily ever after. And boy is the glow-up real with this one! Clyde is often described as a goofball with a knack for making people laugh with his silly antics and expressive face. He loves to sunbathe and sleeping in the sun, he enjoys car rides and outdoor adventures. Clyde's great temperament and eagerness to please should combine to make him a quick learner. He's sociable and enjoys meeting new people, and he would adore a family that take him on frequent outings and adventures. Clyde likes meeting new people and making new best friends. He is extremely sweet and affectionate, always looking for attention. He is great with other dogs, particularly those who are laid-back and calm like him. He'd be thrilled with an active family that enjoys hiking and traveling. Clyde’s demeanor is very calm and relaxed, and he doesn’t ask for too much other than love and reassurance. All Clyde wants is a loving home where he can feel secure and cherished. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly and happy! Other tips and tidbits: Clyde was found as a stray, so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at three years old when found. We estimate his birthday is on or around 7/13/2020. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
