About this Dog
UPDATE from Foster Mom: Josie is a precious girl that I pray for a family that will be a perfect fit for her needs. She needs someone who will be willing to accept her boundaries and provide her the space she needs to decompress when she gets anxious. She will trust and be comfortable with men with time and patience. She has come such a long way since I first started fostering her over the summer. She was adopted for a few weeks but sadly she came back on Christmas Day and has adjusted well in my home. She has seen a vet for a wellness exam including bloodwork and she is healthy and is now taking daily meds to help with her anxiety. She is working on losing weight and only eats dry dog food and probiotics. Josie will prefer a house that isn’t busy and she can hang out and look out a window. She is housetrained and sleeps on the couch while we are away at work. She sleeps in my bed at night. She loves toys and she likes chasing them up and down the hall. As far as breed mix your guess is as good as ours. Shar Pei, Labrador, Pitbull, Chow? As they say, the best breed is called "Rescued". - - - Josie, (who used to be called Bo Peep, but likes the name Josie much better), is back in the Lynchburg area following the health crisis faced by her adopter of 18 months. Josie had a most wonderful life, and was adopted to her former mom after being in a shelter for several months. We were devastated both for her mom, who faced hospitalization for a fatal illness, and for Josie, who was being bounced around yet again, and was so very confused about it all. The good news is that Josie is with an most awesome foster mom and is making the transition out of necessity. It was helpful that she did not have to return to the shelter, but was able to go from one home to another and adapt much more easily. Josie is now about six and a half years old, and is pretty amazing! Her original history was as a skinny stray with skin infection two years ago. She has made a complete transformation, now living with a couple of cats, a man of the house (when she really prefers women!) and even a toddler coming to visit occasionally. What a wonderful way to make a change for her, if there was no other choice. Suffice it to say, she is a favorite of ours because of her history with us, and we want only the best for her future.
