About this Rabbit
Tewkesbury came to us from St. Tammany Parish Animal Shelter in mid-October 2020, and we named him after a character from Enola Holmes. He was surrendered to STPAS for the reason of having a botfly, and his owners requested that he be euthanized. Fortunately for Tewkesbury, the staff at STPAS knew botflies were fixable so they removed the botfly and contacted us about taking him in. Upon arrival we brought him to our vet, and his wound was already mostly healed and he did not need to be put on any additional antibiotics. He did have a microchip, and when scanned we learned that he came originally from Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter where he was neutered prior to his adoption from them. Tewkes was adopted in spring 2021 to be friends with Tootsie, and returned in May 2021. Tewkesbury is a sweet bun, but he is a little understandably nervous. He is around 4.5 yrs years old. He will sometimes grunt when he feels cornered and does NOT like being handled, so he would likely do best with someone who has experience with bunnies and will respect his space. Once he's more comfy, he settles in when he gets head rubs and pets, and will chatter his teeth (bunny version of purring!) while he gets them! He is great with the litterbox. We are NOT recommending him to homes with children. They do great in a large pen or free roaming, and do not chew on the rug in their current habitat.
