Later this person could no longer keep him and took him to the Santa Fe Humane Society Animal Shelter, and he was transferred to Felines & Friends when found to be FIV+. However, as is typical with many FIV+ cats he has no symptoms, is in excellent health and expected to live a normal lifespan. While conventional thinking is to only place an FIV+ cat in a home with no other cats or with another FIV+ cat, there are many “mixed households”. According to Cornell University, the primary mode of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) transmission is through repeated fights resulting in the exchange of blood, and it poses no threat to humans or other species. BIG BOY and his pal, JOE, became members of our PF program after their human passed away in February 2019. TEMPERAMENT: BIG BOY 2 is a sweet kitty who is a little shy at first until he feels comfortable in his new surroundings. He bonded with JOE when they were placed together several years ago. BIG BOY 2 is a big, handsome boy with a short coat and brown tabby markings.AGE: born approx. 10/21/12 MICROCHIP #: 981020013186307 DATE OF STERILIZATION: 5/30/15, SFAS VAX RECORD: Rabies: exp. 7/17/27; FVRCP: exp. 7/17/25 FELV/FIV test: 10/26/16, FIV+ [Santa Fe Animal Svcs.
