About this Dog
Bear is a 11 month old border collie cross german shepherd of medium build, he was rescued at 5 months old from a couple who didn’t state his background. Bear was vet checked as he was very underweight and needed all his vaccinations etc on first check our vet told us she suspected he had suffered physical abuse especially sensitive around his neck had not been fed appropriately and had been more then likely kept in a cage most of first 5 months of his life. We had not sought a dog with needs due to having two severely disabled daughters however he pulled on our heart strings and we were determined to help him. We worked hard and got him to a healthy range weight and he has no lasting physical health problems. He started very well with trusting us and was gentle with our children at the start he occasionally growled when stroked when asleep or resting we implemented a not touch when in his safe space and calling him to us to give him choices this worked for a while. He has had over £1000 spent on training to work on his reactivity to new people out on walks once he has had good introduction he doesn’t take long to be calm in there presence. With dogs he is 50/50 he’s mainly good with smaller dogs off lead he’s better. We have a resident well balanced malamute male who is neutered and 18 months with him he is absolutely fine and they play appropriately no issues. Our resident cat and others in the neighbourhood he ignores and shows very little interest in. He hasn’t been tested around small furry animals. His walking is good with a slip lead his focus on owner when out on walk is good his recall is good also when off lead he is very ball orientated. He thrives when given a job and particularly loves search games he loves two long walks and lots of mental activity during the day and settles well for bed on a night and can be left for short periods. Now unfortunately for the problems and why we need to rehome he asap bear is not good around young children he warns them by growling and snapping in quick succession and with little warning ie he can come over to them waggling his tail one minute and be growling and snappy the next my daughters are both extremely gentle and do not pull my youngest can move constantly due to sensory problems. With us he can be the same growling after we stroke him a few times but has not snapped. Our daughters are now scared of him and won’t go near him due to there needs and disabilities they are constantly nervous around him which is making him more nervous so we have had to separate him when the children are off school this unfortunately cannot be maintained for much longer and is unfair on him. We believe in a home with someone who can continue to work with him he will thrive. Unfortunately when we have rang multiple rescues we are been advised we may have to look at putting him to sleep which we don’t want to do or they are too full won’t put him down for kennels and don’t think he will be able to do home from home. We have reached out to a behavioural specialist but even with his help we cannot keep him for much longer purely because our girls will not go near him now or in the future meaning he would live a restricted life which which is unfair to him.

Please begin the process of claiming Bear's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Bear was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Bear’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
