About this Dog

Nova was found on the side of a country road in an area where many dogs had been dumped to fend for themselves. She came running up to my husband and hugged his leg. We knew we didn't have the space for another dog long term but we had to give the timid pup a chance to find a loving home. We immediately took her in, treated her fleas, and brought her to our vet for shots and heartworm preventative. We looked into surrendering her to a shelter but we found most places in our area weren't accepting surrenders for a while due to space, so we decided to try rehoming her ourselves! During Novas time with us she's learned her name, decent recall, crate training, sit, shake, and walking on a leash. We've discovered she loves chasing balls and squirrels. She's also dog (and chicken) friendly and would thrive in a home that has another active dog in need of a playmate. We haven't been able to confirm if she's cat friendly and she can be jumpy so we dont recommend her for a home with kids under 8(ish) years old. She walks very well on a leash and rarely barks. She would make a great hiking/camping/jogging buddy because shes always happy to be included in whatever you're doing. Her main struggle has been her anxiety. She rolls onto her belly and goes completely limp if she thinks she's in trouble. She loves pets and attention but she will need a loving, patient owner that can give her confidence back. Our vet estimated her to be 2 years old so she's fully grown (35lbs) but we are unsure of what happened to her before we found her. She is also intelligent so she will need some toys to play with and chew when not asleep or playing with you. She's very food motivated so she can be trained with treats but she also will be very curious of anything edible dropped on the floor.

Adopt Nova and Receive Nova's Fund

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Nova's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

How will Nova receive the contribution?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Nova, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Nova's contribution here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Nova was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Nova’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Nova’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Nova’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
