About this Dog
Date into Rescue: 09/08/24 Reason for being in rescue: owner release/too active for young children in the home Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? No Weight: About 30 lbs now but he's growing daily Height: About 22" at the shoulder now, I think he's heading for at least 26" full grown Spayed/Neutered: No - will be placed on neuter contract. He is too young to neuter now. Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes - or a confirmed plan for off leash exercise at least 3 times per week (dog park, doggie day care, running, etc.) What kind of home would be best for me? Marlowe is in search of a home that understands big and bold is beautiful and knows how to take a highly intelligent, sensitive canine and bring out the best in him. Marlowe loves the world and his new home needs to take that inate friendliness and happy go lucky attitude and use it to make him the very best possible representation of his breed. Marlowe is looking for a home with an owner who is committed to his well being and that includes regular socialization with others of his kind. Regular is defined as a minimum of 3 to 4 times per week for at least an hour. This can be accomplished through play dates with friends with dogs of equal size and energy, long walks alongside his best canine buddy, obedience classes that offer a socialization at the end of doggie day care. He would love a buddy to romp and run with (Georgia is his current BFF) but as long as his new family takes the time to introduce him to dogs, he could be an only. Marlowe is a well rounded dog who does not meet a stranger and would do well with a nice big family or a single owner! What matters most to Marlowe is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training him to be the very best he can be. Marlowe has not yet been exposed to cats. When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it’s important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can! What is my personality like? Happy, friendly, inquisitive, and intelligent. Marlowe is an awesome dog with so much love to give. PUPPY POLICY: Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog. Our ideal puppy adopters are: -experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets -scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home -stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) How do I act when I first meet new people? Marlowe is happy to make new friends. Other tips and tidbits: Actual birthdate 04/20/24. Marlowe has AKC papers. Marlowe is going to be a big, big boy. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
