Do you hate doing laundry alone in the basement? Tired of cooking in the kitchen without a constant companion? Well, have we got the best friend for you! Baxter is a 3 year old black mouth cur mix from WV, fresh to the burgh and ready for snuggles! Baxter is almost completely house trained and adjusted very quickly to having routine. He loves being close with a human and learning basic training with positive reinforcement. Crate training is new to him and he's becoming more comfortable with treats and taking his meals there. When out in the house with the resident dogs he is kind and patient. He loved taking a bath and shows no signs of food or toy aggression. He will wrestle and play with the resident 1-year old dog, and lets him know when Baxter's had enough fun. Baxter loves short and long rides in a car, either gazing out the window or napping.Baxter gets along with dogs and all humans he's met, greeting newcomers politely. He doesn't jump up on folks and responds to redirection immediately. He's a sweet baby who is looking for a loving companion. He'd be happy in a family with other dogs or even as an only pup. He just wants to be sure that his new family is full of love, snuggles, and peanut butter snacks.Baxter will need a family looking to continue training and a tall fence, if you're looking to let him roam the yard. He has proven to leap a 3' gated fence in a double-bound! He gets along with two of the resident cats in his foster home, but not the large sassy orange cat.This dog will be available for adoption on August 8, 2025. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Baxter was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Baxter’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Baxter’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Baxter’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
