About this Dog
Hi there! I’m Missy—a sweet, playful pup with a heart full of love! I’m a young ten month old gal , and also a 10 in looks with my fluffy white-tipped tail and toes, and my amber eyes. I’m just the right size for snuggles and adventures at 35 lbs of pure joy! I love making friends with other dogs— when I spot one on walks, I’ll sit or flop down politely, and ready with a play bow when they come over. I live with a lot of dogs, some love to play with me, and some think I’m too big, but hey , I get it and just will happily vibe with them and hope I’ll win them over one day ;) My dream home? A home with doggy siblings to play and nap with ! When I’m not making friends, I’m zooming after my flirt pole or sniffing out bugs like a little detective. Oh, and I’m very smart—I know some commands and am getting really good at coming when called (treats help, of course!). I’m looking for my bff, like truly my best girlie that I can enjoy breezy summer walks with, watch our favorite shows together, and who will be my partner in crime. Girls rule, boys DROOL and I am just not a fan of them. They’re tall, some have weird fur all over their face, and I just don’t vibe well with that masculine energy if you feel me. I’m way more into spa days, girl dates, and window shopping. Dogs are cool though - I’m like suuuch an extrovert when it comes to dogs and love them in all shape and sizes - they just…get me, I can’t explain it. From my foster mom: We have 4 small dogs, all under 15 lbs that have a range of opinions about Missy, and she’s learned great manners to respect their boundaries when they aren’t interested in playing with me. She looks to me for cues and guidance, and while we're working on building confidence , it’s clear she trusts her bonded person deeply. She's pretty easy going and when we leave the home she takes the opportunity to have a siesta for a few hours whether it’s outside of her crate, or sleeping soundly in her crate. Missy is still a puppy, and at 10 months old there’s the occasional mischief we should expect with all teenage pups, but when she’s given her outlets of working with her interactive toys , and exercise she’s quite easy going day to day. Missy grew up in the shelter, and I know that it can be hard for a puppy to go through key socializing periods at critical young ages in a crowded , loud shelter, but I am very proud of how far she’s come. We’ve taken her on a day trip to Seattle and despite some nervousness around people she had no problem walking down Seattle’s waterfront with us and family members and settling down on a patio while we ate lunch. When guests come over, she's content and quiet to sleep in another room away from the action. Common in german shepherds, she is content to have her favorite person, but isn’t a social butterfly with strangers gets nervous when they engage with her directly. She's non-reactive on walks, curious when people pass her by, but living with my partner (who’s a tall man with a big beard) hasn’t been the right fit for her, and she'd do best in a home without men. Now that she has all her other home skills built, she’s ready for her next chapter with the right person to feel truly safe and comfortable with the person or people she’ll love. The right family for Missy: She would do best in a calm, female-presenting household where she can feel safe and secure as she learns to trust her new person/ p eople . With time, patience, and plenty of treats, Missy will blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion. She is on a path to success and is on anti-anxiety medication currently to help her reset her nervous system , and her new family will be supported by a trainer for several initial sessions covered by the rescue that’s assessed her. She’s a young pup and thrives on structure, and we are confident that with patient and gentle adopters who will give her positive reinforcement training she will blossom. Could you be the one to give Missy the loving, understanding home she deserves? If you’re ready to open your heart to this special girl, fill out an application on our website. Underdogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. Adoption fee is $375. She is being fostered in SE Portland Area. You MUST have an Underdogs Rock Rescue application on file to request a meet with an Underdog. Adopt Missy and Receive Missy's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Missy's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Missy's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Missy, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Missy's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Missy was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Missy’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Missy’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Missy’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
