Mavis - Female DOB 1/23/2023 Domestic Short Hair - Brown Tabby Meet Mavis, a feisty little queen with a big voice and personality. She’s had a rough go in life, and it’s made her cautious—especially when it comes to people and other animals. But beneath that spicy exterior is a cat who's slowly learning that not everyone is out to hurt her. She's discovering that gentle hands and kind hearts do exist. She has definitely mellowed more and more in the past few weeks and loves to see the volunteers come and visit with her. She loves to talk to you and especially let you know her displeasure if you are late in feeding her lol. She does like pets—especially around her head and chin—but it's all on her terms. She’s still figuring out what it means to be safe and loved, so overstimulation is something to be mindful of if petting her too much. Treats are a great way to her heart, and a well-timed one might earn you a quick cuddle moment, but what Mavis needs most is someone patient, kind, and willing to meet her where she is. Mavis isn’t a fan of other pets, so she’s looking for a calm, quiet home where she can be the only furry resident. No dogs, cats, or kids—just someone who understands feline peculiarities and is willing to go at her pace. She needs a cat-savvy human who can read her cues, give her space when she needs it, and know when it's safe to sneak in a little affection.
