About this Dog
Copper is a gentle, soulful hound with a heart as big as his classic bellow. At 8 years old, he still enjoys daily walks and outdoor adventures where he can follow his nose — just like a true hound should. Calm and affectionate, Copper was previously trained as an emotional support dog and knows a variety of impressive commands, including "heel," "play dead," and "pressure" (he'll lay across you to help soothe anxiety). He's house-trained (he’ll give a polite bark when he needs to go out) and doesn't need to be crated — he's a respectful roommate. While Copper adjusted slowly to his foster home, he enjoys lounging in quiet corners until he warms up. When he is comfortable, he loves to snuggle at night, taking up half the bed.Copper prefers a calm environment and would do best as the only dog or with another calm companion. He is co-existing with his cat roommates well and will even sleep on the bed with a cat near him. He’s good with older kids too!Copper is food-motivated and loves training treats, so you might want to watch your countertops! He absolutely loves sniffy walks and loves to smell everything along the way. A fenced yard would be ideal if he is outside on his own because he will follow his nose or chase after a squirrel, bunny, or bird. Otherwise, he has a low to medium energy level. Copper is looking for humans who will give him time to adjust and let his affectionate, silly personality shine. If you love hounds and their quirks, you’ll fall for Copper’s charm in no time!If you are interested in Copper, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $250. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Adopt Copper and Receive Copper's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Copper's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Copper's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Copper, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Copper's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Copper was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Copper’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Copper’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Copper’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
