About this Cat
Meet Genevieve (formerly known as Steve) – A Spicy Sweetheart with a Big Personality Age: 1–2 years Breed: White & Orange, Petite Background: Owner surrender due to financial hardship; originally found as a kitten Genevieve—yes, she used to go by Steve!—is a petite, playful, and slightly dramatic little lady who brings both sass and sweetness in equal measure. This white and orange beauty has had a bit of a journey, from being found as a kitten outdoors to becoming a beloved house cat… and now she’s ready for her next chapter. She came to us after her previous family could no longer afford to care for her. They had nothing but good things to say: Genevieve is said to be wonderful with adults (men and women), kids of all ages, strangers, and cats. She even enjoys sleeping in bed with her humans and has a funny little love for playing in water and watching the birds go by. Genevieve does have a flair for the dramatic—when she first arrived, she let us know she was overwhelmed with some hissing and growling… all while rolling over and showing off her belly. Classic mixed signals! But give her a little time and space to adjust, and she becomes an affectionate love bug who just wants to be close to her people. She doesn’t seem to mind other cats, but as always, slow introductions are best. Her feelings on dogs are unknown. Like many cats with a little extra energy, she may indulge in curtain climbing and furniture scratching, so a cat-savvy home with outlets for her playful side would be ideal. If you're looking for a cat with personality, charm, and a whole lot of heart, Genevieve is ready to fill your home with love, laughs, and a little bit of mischief. I just joined my foster family and we are still getting acquainted with one another. Once they learn more about me, they will add more information here! Genevieve is an owner surrender. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals. Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.

100% of Genevieve's balance will be sent to whoever adopts Genevieve.
Adopt Genevieve and Receive Genevieve's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Genevieve's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Genevieve's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Genevieve, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Genevieve's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Genevieve was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Genevieve’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Genevieve’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Genevieve’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
