About this Dog
Meet Aster, an 18-pound Miniature Poodle who started out shy and uncertain but has blossomed into a quiet, curious little gentleman. He’s still a bit of an introvert, preferring cozy corners and quiet moments, but don’t let his mellow demeanor fool you—he’s slowly discovering the joy of toys, especially ones that squeak or honk. Aster is the perfect mix of independent and affectionate: he might hang back at first, but once he’s on your lap or beside you on the couch, he’s not going anywhere. He gets along great with other dogs of all sizes and is reportedly cat-friendly, too. He rarely barks, and he rides like a champ in the car. He does best when life moves at a calm pace and new places are introduced gently. Loud or sudden noises may cause a quick startle, but a few reassuring pets and he’s back to his calm, sweet self. Aster has been doing really well on walks—even though the concept of leashes is still relatively new to him. He’s currently logging one to two miles at a time and seems quite pleased with himself. But don’t worry—he’s just as content lounging around at home, burrowed under some blankets with his favorite human nearby. He’s crate trained and has been killing it in the potty training department - he will hold it for outside! Aster is learning some basic commands like “stay” and “wait,” and is a gentle soul who would thrive in a quieter household—maybe with someone home often, not left alone for long periods of time or looking for a calm, devoted companion. Bonus points if you love a unique look: Aster’s white-and-apricot coat is stunning, but it’s his mismatched eyes (one bright blue, one partly blue and brown) that make him a true head-turner. A fenced yard is a must for Aster, as he’s still gaining confidence and might pull a vanishing act if spooked. Stairs are a work in progress—he can hustle up them just fine, but going down is still a bit of a puzzle. If you're looking for a calm, cuddly, low-maintenance sidekick who just wants a safe place to relax, go on the occasional stroll, and be loved forever, Aster might just be your guy. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Adopt Aster and Receive Aster's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Aster's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Aster's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Aster, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Aster's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Aster was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Aster’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Aster’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Aster’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
