Age: 8 years Wt: 75# Breed: Lab/Hound mix Vet visit: 5/1/2025 “Clean bill of health.” Brought UTD on vaccines & started heart worm, flea & tick preventative. Microchipped. Viewable on Adopt a Pet & Humane Society Huron Valley. Shuster was rescued at 2 years old and lived happily with his dad for nearly 7 years. In April 2025, his dad had a stroke and is permanently in a nursing home. Shuster was alone in the house with the son & a neighbor watching over him until becoming our foster. • Sweet, loving disposition. Loves people. • Loves walks and does well in his harness. Has been walking 1 mile am & pm and extra on several afternoons. • Completely house broken and asks out to potty. Previously had a doggie door. • Likes to lay in the back yard (with our company) and LOVES to lay on his bed on the front porch and watch the neighborhood activities. • Sleeps calmly all night in the “big bed.” • Does not need a crate and was unhappy in one when previous Dad’s son tried one. • Rides well in the car. Needs a hand to get in & out. He’s been fine with being alone at home. • Knows “sit,” “down,” “stay,” “Leave it,” & “come” commands. • No cats or small animals! Has a high prey drive. We would definitely keep him ourselves, but things are not working out with our cats. • Was reportedly friendly with other dogs before being homeless. Now with some reactivity when face to face but no reaction when walking across street from them. • A bit frightened by loud noises (gun shots and explosion on TV & our vacuum). Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Shuster's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Shuster was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Shuster’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Shuster’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Shuster’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
