ADOPTION RETURN - JUST SHOWED UP WITH HER. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 8/13/2025: Kokomo - female - 13 years old - 8.0 pounds - Toy Poodle Reason for intake: Kokomo originally came to us on 5/9/2023 from Bossier City Animal Control. The owner brought her in to be euthanized. BCAC reached out and we took her in. She was adopted in June 24, 2023, to what we thought was her forever home. On 8/13/2025, the husband of the couple shows up at our door in the morning, no advanced notice... that Kokomo is deaf now and they can't take care of her. (sigh) LOOK, we will always take our dogs back, but to show up unannounced after TWO years with this sad little senior... well, we will just never understand people. Nevertheless, we will get her to our vet for a few things and post her once again for adoption. We feel so bad for this little girl. NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note… we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption. Please wait until the dog is available for adoption. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Kokomo (ADOPTION RETURN - NOT YET AVAIL) was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Kokomo (ADOPTION RETURN - NOT YET AVAIL)’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Kokomo (ADOPTION RETURN - NOT YET AVAIL)’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Kokomo (ADOPTION RETURN - NOT YET AVAIL)’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
