NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 8/10/2025: Orson - male - 8 years old - 30.12 pounds - Standard Dachshund Reason for intake: Orson came to us from an animal control out of this area. Sadly, the owner committed suicide and it was three weeks before he was discovered. (We have changed the name of the dog and we didn't disclose the animal control so as to protect the privacy of the owner's family.) Sadly, this is not the first time we've taken in a dog due to these circumstances and it won't be the last. It's important to check on family and friends who suffer from loneliness and depression. If you or someone you love is suffering, help is available. Just like 911, you can call 988 for the suicide and crisis lifeline. Orson will be heading to our vet soon for vetting. Stay tuned. NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note… we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption. Please wait until the dog is available for adoption. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Orson (NOT YET AVAILABLE) was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Orson (NOT YET AVAILABLE)’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Orson (NOT YET AVAILABLE)’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Orson (NOT YET AVAILABLE)’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
