About this Dog
General Notes | Born out in the woods of Grapeland, TX, sweet Filcher (Fil for short) started his life with his mama and brother on the run. This sweet baby has since learned about the love of people, a soft bed, and good consistent meals! He is curious, sweet, adoring, and can't wait to find his forever family in Colorado! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Timid but sweet - openning up more and more by the day! This little guy couldn't be more curious, adoring, and loving. He is happy to play with other dogs, but might take a few minutes to warm up as he is still adjusting to the big world around him! As he has adapted to her foster family, he has melted and is SUCH a love when his walls are down! Story | This sweet boy was found off of a rural county road with their mama in Grapeland, Texas. Mama had been dumped and had given birth, somehow surviving off of food and kindness supplied by the community. At around 3 months of age, local good samiaritans trapped him and brought him home to show them the good life. He has slowly acclimated to living in a home with dogs and cats, and has been so lucky to grow and adjust to getting love and affection by his wonderful fosters! Now it's time for him to make biggest trek yet - to find his forever family in Colorado! He still has some rural puppy tendencies - he is a bit prey driven (hello squirrel chaser!) and are a bit fearful of touch and fast movements, but learning day by day! Other Dogs | He is great with other dogs and is playful but respectful of them in his foster home. He thrives with a dog to follow the lead from and play with but has become more confident day by day in his foster home. Cats | He is cat tested and cat approved! He did well with the kitties in his Texas foster home. Children | He hasn't been with kids in his foster homes but he has been very gentle so far and will tolerate being picked up when needed. He would most likely do well in a home with respectful kiddos. Training | He is working on crate training, potty training, leash walking, and basic commands! Leash | Learning day by day!Activity Level | Moderate energy - your typical lab pup! Health Notes | Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Zabransky / Filcher, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Zabransky / Filcher's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Zabransky / Filcher was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Zabransky / Filcher’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Zabransky / Filcher’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Zabransky / Filcher’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
