About this Dog
This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, August 9th from 12-3pm unless adopted prior to the event. To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance. Adoption fee: $650 Meet Banjo! 8–9 months old | ~20 lbs | Beagle Mix Banjo is a soulful, sensitive, and incredibly smart young pup who was rescued from the shelter and is now settling into home life with the wide-eyed curiosity only a Beagle mix can bring. With his velvety ears, expressive eyes, and signature Beagle “sniffer,” Banjo is equal parts adventurer and snuggler. Banjo starts his day around 6:30–7 AM, patiently hanging in his crate until it’s time for his first big walk. He loves a good neighborhood stroll, where he can catch up on the overnight happenings and reclaim every tree, hydrant, pole, and patch of grass as his own. After breakfast, it’s time for his favorite activity: napping near his foster mama, always keeping one eye open to make sure she doesn’t sneak away without him. Evenings mean another long walk to take in the smells, stretch those legs, and enjoy more outdoor time before curling up and fighting sleep with heavy-lidded determination around 9 or 10 PM. Personality & Progress Banjo arrived nervous and unsure of the world around him. Loud noises, unfamiliar sights, and even new people gave him pause. But with patience and trust, Banjo has blossomed into a loyal, affectionate shadow— your constant companion and biggest cuddlebug. He’ll follow you room to room or sit and watch until you return. And while he used to be wary of having his feet touched, he now tolerates (and even anticipates) his post-walk paw wipes like a pro. A Beagle Brain at Work This pup is observant and sharp. He figures things out quickly— from using his kangaroo-like agility to untangle himself from his leash, to hopping onto his crate in search of a treat he sniffed out up high. He’ll even stand up on his back legs to get a better view of people and dogs from afar. His nose is always on duty, and his mind is always working. Energy & Play Banjo has moderate energy—he’s all about the adventure during walks, but once home, he’s perfectly content to snooze the day away by your side. He’s playful and curious, but not hyper. He doesn’t yet know how to greet dogs properly and will often stop and stare during walks, but he’s learning. He doesn’t chase squirrels or bark excessively, though he’ll whine a tad bit when bored or when he can’t see his people. Training & Habits Banjo is crate trained, house trained, and will let you know when he has to go out. He doesn’t use potty pads and prefers grassy areas far from home base. He’s respectful on leash once he understands your pace, but he’s definitely a scent-driven explorer at heart. Ideal Home Banjo would do well in a moderately active home with patient people who are ready to continue his training, as he's a young dude! He’s a classic velcro dog who thrives on companionship. An older dog sibling could be a great guide for him as he continues building confidence. Why Banjo? Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Banjo's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Banjo was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Banjo’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Banjo’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Banjo’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
