About this Cat
Duncan Bunz DOB: 3/16/2025 Adoption Fee: $275 A LapCats foster responded to a Facebook plea for help of a friendly cat left in a levy at a shopping center and quickly discovered that this was the case of a momma cat and kittens. After talking with several people, it was discovered that Anastasia was left behind by a homeless person, as well as another cat, who was not able to be located. The family was being fed by lots of folks from the shopping center, but no one was stepping up to rescue them. Momma cat was easily secured in a carrier and two kittens needed to be persuaded into traps with some tasty snacks. Signs were left stating “Do not feed, water only, we will be trapping until every kitten is secured” and also notified the locals that in order to successfully trap – to NOT leave food. The next morning an itty bitty box was left that read “We trapped the kittens for you.” Someone had made makeshift “traps” with two tiny toy kittens with water bowls underneath. What a jokester! There were originally 5-6 kittens, sadly we only got a bird’s eye view of three. After two and a half weeks of setting traps and drops traps, in the evenings and wee hours of the morning and literally camping out next to Hot Bunz Burgers, we would finally prevail. Although the typical trapping method was not used to finally secure Duncan, too much time had passed and this little one needed to be secured asap to have a chance at a better life. Duncan was trapped using a fish net, yes a fish net! Where this family was hiding there were half a dozen water drains, where they would hide and stay for 4-5 hours while trappers waited and nothing, he was outsmarting every known possible way, and this was not good or safe. We jumped for joy when he was “netted”, not knowing what his condition would be, we were pleasantly surprised that he was purring after the scary net experience. He was teeming in fleas and egg larvae, frail, tired, almost like he had given up waiting for his momma. Duncan lit up like the pink panther with all the flea larvae during his bath. He is the sweetest little nugget, and was so happy to see him momma and siblings after several weeks. We were committed to rescuing him, no matter what! Duncan was ready to start a new chapter and is getting lots of first experiences like playing with toys. He is still a little nervous, but has loud purrs, loves pets and being held. Welcome Duncan Bunz to the LapCats family! The first step in our adoption process is the application which can be found on our website lapcats.org. All of our cats have tested negative for FELV and are fully vaccinated. They have not only been spayed or neutered but have also been treated for worms, fleas, and have been micro chipped. We will register their microchip for you, provide you with a free exam visit to a participating Sacramento veterinarian, and a goodie bag! We do not do out of state adoptions for the safety of our cats.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Duncan Bunz was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Duncan Bunz’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Duncan Bunz’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Duncan Bunz’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
